Meghalaya Tour Package

A Travel blog about Meghalaya’s enchanting beauty Meghalaya is in northeastern India, known as the “Abode of Clouds.” This heaven is for lovers of nature and wanderers alike, what catch-me-not-catch-me waterfalls to fog-kissed hills. Meghalaya boasts an exceptional blend of pure natural beauty plus a thriving culture along with an adventure. Shillong’s exploration, solo or mixed as part of an exploration of Assam, would etch the memory. Sneak peek into my last visit to Meghalaya where highlights of popular packages strangely niced up the very attractive of Wari Chora.

Day 1: The Gateway to Meghalaya:

Guwahati to Shillong I chose a combined Assam-Meghalaya travel package, which guaranteed a hassle-free trip, and began my journey in Guwahati, Assam. I traveled to Shillong, the quaint capital of Meghalaya, for three hours. I made a halt at Umiam Lake, a serene reservoir encircled by verdant hills, while traveling. Shillong’s colonial architecture, lively markets, and neighborhood cafés were all fascinating. I spent the evening at Police Bazaar, where I purchased handcrafted trinkets and tried regional specialties including jadoh, a rice and pork dish.

Day 2: Cherrapunji – Land of Rain and Waterfalls

The next destination was Cherrapunji, renowned for being one of the rainiest places on Earth. The tour package included visits to famous places like:
Nohkalikai Falls, India’s tallest plunge waterfall.
Mawsmai Caves, offering a fascinating exploration of natural limestone formations.
Seven Sisters Falls, cascading in breathtaking symmetry.
The highlight of the day was trekking to the Living Root Bridges, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The bridges exemplify in an astonishing manner sustainable engineering, as innovation by the Khasi tribes through tree roots.

Day 3: Wari Chora – The Hidden Gem of Meghalaya

The most ideal and offbeat experience is the place known as Wari Chora. Situated near Bangladesh, Wari Chora is a breathtaking canyon chiseled into crystal waters. My guide escorted me on a thrilling boat ride through the canyon. With tall cliffs and emerald waters across, along with the serenity of the ambiance, all seemed surreal.

It is a less-known destination, ideal for those who seek solitude and untarnished natural beauty. Remember to bring some snacks and water because there aren’t many amenities there.

Day 4: Mawlynnong – Asia’s Cleanest Village

No tour to Meghalaya is complete without visiting Mawlynnong, hailed as the cleanest village in Asia. There was nothing more astonishing than walking down those flower-hung lanes spotlessly clean, which spoke volumes of the community’s dedication toward sustainability. A small trek further reached me to the Sky Viewpoint, offering panoramic views of the Bangladesh plains

Day 5: Dawki and Return to Assam

Dawki

The Umngot River, said to be the clearest of all waters, passes right through Dawki. On my last day in Meghalaya, I went for a boat ride along the river. The water was so clear that it suspended the boats just above the surface; gliding over this felt like floating on air. This picturesque background made it one of the most photographed spots during the tour.
A beautiful journey towards my finale, Guwahati, leaving me with great moments and many pictures in my camera.

Why Choose a Meghalaya Tour Package?

A Meghalaya tour package would thus be perfect to explore the state, along with Assam, considering the arduous land and difficult locations to travel on one’s own. Most of these packages include transportation, guides, and curated itineraries, which ensure that the trip is smooth.

In demand, the various package options include:

Meghalaya High Light: Shillong, Cherrapunji, Dawki, Mawlynnong.

Assam-Meghalaya Combo: Kaziranga National Park (Assam) + Meghalaya High Light.

Offbeat Meghalaya: Wari Chora, Nongriat and Remote Villages.

Travel Tips for Meghalaya
  1. Best Time to Visit: October to April for pleasant weather, or monsoon – if you love the rain.
